Episode 101: Firefighter Research with Kealey Wohlgemuth, MA and Dr. Jacob Mota, Ph.D.

Meeting amAZing people is my jam, and I met Kealey Wohlgemuth last summer at the NSCA National Convention with her Ph.D. advisor, previous guest, Dr. Jacob Mota, and other lab mates.

Hear Dr. Mota's Episode here!

Kealey is doing great work in firefighter research, and we chatted about the projects she's currently working on.

Kealey is a third-year Ph.D. student from Topsail Island, North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Sports Nutritionist through the International Society of Sports Nutrition. Kealey’s research interests include neuromuscular performance, skeletal muscle imaging, and resistance training within special populations (i.e., aging, tactical).

So what, now what?

Firefighting is incredibly taxing, and having the fitness and outstanding technique gained through years of experience seems very important in Kealey's experiments.
